The Hollywood Pantages Theatre has a long and rich history. It originally opened as a vaudeville venue back when Hollywood was starting to appear on the world entertainment map. During the early 30s Great Depression years, it was turned into a movie theater.

The original owner — Alexander Pantages — was one of the great early movie producers. During his career, he also opened entertainment venues throughout California and America. He later sold the Hollywood Pantages Theatre to RKO.

It continued to show movies and productions until 1977, when it shifted its focus to stage shows. The location and famous name quickly made it one of LA’s hottest entertainment destinations, even attracting New York Broadway shows to the West Coast.

A multi-million-dollar upgrade in 2000 took the venue back to its original glory. Since then, it has hosted world-class productions, such as Disney’s The Lion King, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Chicago, and Hamilton, thrilling crowds of thousands night after night.
