Back To The Future – Theatrical Production at Hollywood Pantages Theatre

Transporting viewers straight back to the 1900s, a nostalgic time for the current generation, The musical, Back To The Future, features the same narrative from the previous 1985 movie and was also adapted for the stage by the movie's creators, Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. The high-spirited and vividly bright show tells the story of Marty McFly, who accidentally discovers time travel.

The show is set in motion as Marty lives a regular routine in a young man's life, slacking around (mainly in their band) and spending time with his girlfriend, Jennifer, all while continuously being quite inquisitive of the things he finds. His uncontrollable interest ends up as his very own burden, as upon connecting with Doc Brown on a fateful evening, the doctor explains that is the first time traveler to make a transtemporal device (which turns out to be the DeLorean) operate. An unusual hazard that occurs on that night causes Marty to unknowingly use the device, shocking him and carrying him back to three decades ago in 1955. At first disoriented with the different changes he starts seeing, Marty in time figures out that to return to the right place and time, he must also correct the past, and his mother and father who have yet to fall in love, back to what actually happened.

With similar creatives from the film it was adapted from, each set of the legendary show serves as a callback to the set designs from the previous movie, encompassing Hill Valley High School, Doc’s lab, the McFly’s house, and many locations in the Hill Valley area. Both the stage and costume design also stay true to the decades they represent. Back To The Future’s move to the theater platform expanded the viewership of one of the leading franchises ever made, while utilizing tweaks and innovations only possible in a stage adaptation.
