The amazing set design helps transport audiences back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Once the curtains open, everyone is hit with an air of familiarity that you just can't find in any of the other productions on tour or on Broadway. There's somewhat of an adjustment phase to get used to seeing other actors giving life to some of these legendary characters. J.K. Rowling herself talks about her experience when she first saw Harry Potter and The Cursed Child LIVE it was emotional for her to see Professor Snape, the character, with his back to the audience and feeling like she would see the late Alan Rickman's face when he turned around. There could be those highly emotional moments for you as well on this Friday night if you're a massive fan of the movies.
Thanks to, the story being told on stage and the way that it's set up helps people to adapt their eyes a bit. When you get to the climax of the play, you're looking at "Harry Potter" as the character without expecting to see Daniel Radcliffe. You have to know, that you'll experience a roller coaster of emotions with Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. This ride is much more memorable than anything that you can find at Universal Studios. Maybe what makes this production so impactful is that it remains faithful to the tone of the source material. It would've been a big mistake to try and turn this into a traditional musical to go up against something like The Lion King. Most fans would've seen right through it. Harry Potter isn't on that level of corny, and therefore, a story within this world on stage shouldn't be either.
It's essential to choose the right seat for this show at Hollywood Pantages Theatre. They put a lot of work into that background to make crowds believe that they are actually getting on a train at Platform 9 at Kings' Cross for you to be blind to those details!
